Phillies and Special Olympics Delaware host Bocce Ball Tournament at Citizens Bank Park

While the Phillies were away in Colorado, the team welcomed Special Olympics Delaware Athletes to their annual Bocce at the Ballpark tournament. Over a hundred Special Olympics athletes paired up with Phillies front office volunteers in a round-robin style tournament, with the winning team receiving a grand prize.

Also competing and refereeing the tournament were Phillies ambassadors Mickey Morandini, Milt Thompson, Dickie Noles and Scott Palmer, along with the Phillie Phanatic and Phillies Ballgirls.

The event was a part of the monthly Phillies Give Back volunteer program. Special Olympics Unified Sports® creates an opportunity for people without intellectual disabilities to join in the sports experience by playing on a team with athletes with intellectual disabilities. Not only do the players all have fun, but attitude change and transformation happen on the playing field and the experiences create lifelong friendships.
