MLB Softball Ambassador Lauren Gipson hosts hitting clinic for local UYA players
Before Tuesday’s game against the Mariners, MLB Softball Ambassador Lauren Gispon (Chamberlain) made a special trip to Philadelphia to host a hitting clinic for Urban Youth Academy softball players at the Phillies MLB UYA Softball Fields at FDR Park. Gipson, an Oklahoma Sooner national champion, is hosting hitting clinics at MLB Youth Academies across the country as part of Major League Baseball’s initiative to grow the game year-round.
Following the clinic, Gipson headed over to Citizens Bank Park to be a panelist in that night’s session of Strike Out the Stigma presented by GHOST®, with the session focused on Empowering Youth Athletes. Also a part of the clinic were Saint Joseph’s University men’s basketball legends Phil Martelli and Jameer Nelson.
