Wikelman González called up by White Sox; Martin (forearm) goes on IL

Prior to tonight’s series opener at Toronto, the Chicago White Sox recalled right-hander from Triple-A Charlotte, placed left-hander (left shoulder strain) and right-hander (right forearm strain, retroactive to Tuesday) on the 15-day injured list, selected the contract of southpaw Jake Palisch from Double-A Birmingham and designated right-hander Caleb Freeman for assignment.

González, 23, is 5-0 with a 2.75 ERA (6 ER/19.2), .138 (9-65) opponents average and 18 strikeouts over 12 relief appearances with Charlotte in 2025. He began the season at Birmingham and was promoted to the Knights on April 29. González has tossed at least 2.0 IP in seven of his 12 relief appearances and has not allowed a run in nine of the 12 outings.

González, 6-foot and 220 pounds, owns a 26-17 record with a 3.93 ERA (187 ER/428.1 IP), .201 (309-1,537) opponents average and 530 strikeouts (11.14 per 9.0 IP) over 116 career appearances (98 starts) in seven minor-league seasons between the Boston (2019-24) and White Sox (2025) organizations. He was acquired by Chicago on December 11, 2024, with infielder Chase Meidroth, outfielder Braden Montgomery and catcher Kyle Teel from the Red Sox in exchange for left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet.

González, who is a native of Maracay, Venezuela, has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 66.

Palisch, 26, is 4-1 with a 1.19 ERA (7 ER/53.0 IP), .189 (35-185) opponents average, 0.92 WHIP and 35 strikeouts over 15 appearances (seven starts) with Birmingham this season. He leads the Southern League in ERA and WHIP and ranks second in opponents average. Palisch was named SL and White Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May after going 2-1 with a 0.75 ERA (2 ER/24.0 IP), .092 (7-76) opponents average, 0.54 WHIP and 22 strikeouts over five outings (four starts).

Palisch, 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds, has gone 9-6 with a 3.17 ERA (53 ER/150.2 IP) and 132 strikeouts in 94 career outings (seven starts) over four minor-league seasons (2022-25) in the White Sox system. He was signed by Chicago as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M University on July 25, 2022.

Palisch, a native of Richardson, Texas, has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 60.

Booser, 33, is 1-4 with a 5.11 ERA (14 ER/24.2 IP), one save, seven holds and 27 strikeouts (9.85 per 9.0 IP) over 30 relief appearances this season, his first with the White Sox.

Martin, 28, has gone 2-7 with a 3.79 ERA (34 ER/80.2 IP) and 53 strikeouts over 14 outings (13 starts) in 2025, his third season with Chicago.

Freeman, 27, went 0-0 with a 5.40 ERA (2 ER/3.1 IP) and three strikeouts in five relief appearances over two stints with the White Sox this season, his first in the majors.

Following the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
