What’s Happening This Weekend at Citizens Bank Park: Phillies vs. Royals, September 12-14

Heartwarming moments and pregame tributes at Nemours Children’s Health Childhood Cancer Awareness Night; Baseball Hall of Famer Joe Torre and PCADV CEO Susan Higginbotham to be honored as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Night; Philadelphia Negro Leagues Tribute Night presented by Asplundh and GIANT Family Day; Bucket Hat and Lunch Tote giveaways for children 14 and under!

Come cheer on the Phillies as they close out the homestand with a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals. Here’s a look at some of the fan highlights in this jam-packed weekend.

  1. The series begins on Friday, September 12, with Philadelphia Negro Leagues Tribute Night presented by Asplundh at the 6:45 p.m. game. Gate openings: 3B/LF – 4:45 p.m.; all other gates 5:15 p.m.
    • Before the game, the Phillies will honor Philadelphia’s rich Negro Leagues history and celebrate both the Philadelphia Stars (1933-1952) and the 100th anniversary of the Hilldale Club’s 1925 Negro World Series championship. Plus, Hilldale and Philadelphia Stars pennants will fly above Ashburn Alley.
    • Also pregame, the Phillies and Asplundh will present a $10,000 donation to support the Miller Parker Philadelphia Stars Negro League Memorial Park.
    • Prior to the first pitch, Miller Lite 12 oz. cans will be available at Miller Lite Liberty Landing for $6.99.
  1. On Saturday, September 13, at 6:05 p.m., it’s the ninth annual Childhood Cancer Awareness Night presented by Nemours Children’s Health. Gate openings: 3B/LF – 3:35 p.m.; all other gates 4:35 p.m.
    • Be in your seats by 5:30 p.m. for the special on-field ceremony, featuring heartwarming moments and once-in-a-lifetime experiences for families affected by cancer. Click here for event highlights, including a lineup of courage, ceremonial home run, a giant gold ribbon in center field held by family members whose children lost their battle to cancer and more.
    • Participants include those receiving treatment from Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, as well as those affiliated with the Kisses for Kyle Foundation.
    • All children 14 and under will receive a Bucket Hat.
    • At the end of the 6th inning, fans will be invited to raise gold ribbon prints (distributed at the entrance gates) in recognition of the fight against childhood cancer.
    • That night’s Phillies Charities, Inc. 50/50 Drawing will benefit The Nemours Foundation.
    • Enjoy the pregame Budweiser Block Party with DJ HBK at the Budweiser Batter’s Eye Bar behind Section 148.
  1. The series concludes with GIANT Family Day at the 1:35 p.m. game on Sunday, September 14. Children 14 and under will receive a Phillies Lunch Tote. Gate openings: 3B/LF – 11:05 a.m.; all other gates 12:05 p.m.
    • From 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., head to Citizens Bank Way for the GIANT Family Block Party featuring complimentary facepainting, balloon artists, a dunk tank, rock climbing wall, yard games, a Phillies alumni photo opportunity, music from DJ HBK, the Phillies Ballgirls and an appearance by the Phillie Phanatic! Plus, stations and tastings from Phillies partners.
    • The Phillies will also host Domestic Violence Awareness Day, with awareness to be made on the importance of healthy relationships.
    • Before the game, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV) CEO Susan Higginbotham, as well as Baseball Hall of Famer Joe Torre, founder of his Safe at Home Foundation, will be joined by Phillies manager Rob Thomson to be recognized on-field.
    • PCADV and Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation staff will be on-site with information and resources at the First and Third Base Plazas.
    • At the end of the 3rd inning, WWII veteran Colonel Baron will be honored as the day’s Hometown Hero presented by Toyota.
