MILWAUKEE -- Pablo López tossed six strong innings and Ryan Jeffers and Kody Clemens both homered as the Twins won their 13th consecutive game, 7-0, against the Brewers on Saturday night at American Family Field.
It’s the longest streak in the Major Leagues since the Rays won 13 straight to open the 2023 season, and stands alone as the second longest streak in Twins franchise history. The only longer streak since the franchise moved to Minnesota was a run of 15 in a row in July of 1991, the season of the team’s last World Series championship.
López allowed a leadoff single and a walk in the first inning, and wasn’t bothered after that. He permitted a total of two hits and two walks, striking out six. The right-hander has allowed two or fewer earned runs in all but one of his starts this year.
With help from relievers Justin Topa, Jorge Alcala and Kody Funderburk, the Twins ran their shutout streak to 33 innings. That’s first in Minnesota history, topping a run of 32 straight from July 5-8, 2004.
Jeffers got the visitors on the board from the jump, launching a solo homer as the second batter of the game. He also doubled and scored in the third and singled in the fourth. Clemens went deep in the fifth, as Minnesota scored exactly one run in each of the first six innings before a single tally in the ninth. It was Clemens’ third homer since joining the Twins in a trade with Philadelphia on April 26.
