ST. LOUIS – Amid a flurry of roster moves to fortify their bullpen with veteran arms on Saturday morning, the Dodgers placed right-hander Tony Gonsolin on the 15-day injured list with right elbow discomfort.
Righties Michael Kopech (60-day) and Kirby Yates (15-day) were activated from the IL, while righty Chris Stratton was designated for assignment.
Gonsolin missed the first 30 games of this season while recovering from Tommy John surgery in September 2023, and had since established himself as one of the reliable members of a Dodgers rotation which has been fraught with injury concerns all season long. He is 3-2 with a 5.00 ERA in seven starts (36 innings) this season, and struck out six over five innings in his most recent start against the Mets on Wednesday.
He now joins Tyler Glasnow, Michael Grove, Kyle Hurt, River Ryan, Roki Sasaki, Emmet Sheehan, Blake Snell and Gavin Stone as starting options who are all currently on the injured list. Los Angeles has already used 13 starting pitchers in 2025, the most in MLB.
Manager Dave Roberts announced the activation of the two veteran relievers and Stratton’s assignment during his pregame media availability, but said the team “[hadn’t] decided” on the final corresponding move. That eventually turned out to be Gonsolin.
