Firing on all cylinders: Tigers' surging bats headline G1 blowout win

DENVER -- After homering in seven consecutive games to begin their current road trip, the Tigers didn’t go deep in either of their first two games against the Rockies at Coors Field.

But that didn’t stop them from continuing to put crooked numbers on the scoreboard.

With a 10-2 victory over Colorado in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon, the beat goes on for Detroit’s lineup, which has scored 52 runs over its past seven games -- six of which were victories.

On the mound, right-hander Casey Mize turned in six strong innings in his first career start at Coors, giving up one run on three hits while walking none and striking out eight.

The offensive eruption began early for the Tigers, who scored twice in the first, five times in the second and twice again in the third to jump out to a 9-0 lead.
