Tigers Minor Leaguer reveals it's a boy with batting gloves

It’s a boy!

-- an outfielder with the Toledo Mud Hens, the Tigers’ Triple-A affiliate -- walked to the plate in the second inning of Tuesday’s game without batting gloves. With his expecting wife and first child watching on from the stands, Hicklen pulled out a pair of blue batting gloves, revealing the gender of the couple’s second child.

Hicklen isn’t the only player to stage a creative baseball-themed gender reveal this season. In April, Phillies star Bryce Harper used a blue bat to signal the gender of the family’s fourth child. A few days later, Astros shortstop Jeremy Peña wore pink accessories for a gender reveal for his college roommate.

Hicklen’s memorable night led to some immediate good fortune, too: Later in the at-bat, he beat out an infield single and came around to score the game's first run for the Mud Hens.
