School District of Philadelphia ‘Rings the Bell PHL’ with the Phillies
What a great way for School District of Philadelphia students to get ready for the start of school!
On Saturday, August 8, School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Tony B. Watlington, Sr., Ed.D. and the Fund’s CEO and President Kathryn Epps joined Phillies Ambassador Scott Palmer, former players Dickie Noles and Milt Thompson, and the Phillies Ballgirls for a special “Ring the Bell PHL” back-to-school event at Citizens Bank Park.
Also taking part were students from Girard Academic Music Program, George Sharswood School, Southwark and Francis Scott Key School, along with players from Central High School Baseball Team, who are the defending champions of the Philadelphia Public League.
After the press event, students took part in a symbolic Ring the Bell PHL ceremonial first pitch, before joining hundreds of families on Citizens Bank Way for the District’s Back-to-School Bus Tour, giving attendees the chance to receive free backpacks and supplies for the start of school.
