Outfielder and the Red Sox are in the process of finalizing an eight-year, $130 million contract extension, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Wednesday. The extension would begin with the 2026 season and includes escalators that could bring the overall value up to $230 million.

The team has not confirmed the deal, which includes a club option and keeps Anthony under club control through 2034.

Anthony, 21, was the No. 1 overall prospect in the game when he made his MLB debut on June 9, and he has been a key contributor to Boston's rise into postseason contention, hitting .283/.400/.428 with two home runs and 19 RBIs in 46 games.

The Red Sox have gone an AL-best 32-16 since Anthony's debut to rocket into the top AL Wild Card spot. They entered Wednesday on a seven-game win streak, and Anthony holds an active eight-game hit streak. He missed the past two games with mid-back tightness but was back in the lineup Wednesday, leading off against the Royals.

Anthony's is the latest in a line of early extensions issued by Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow, who signed Kristian Campbell to an eight-year, $60 million contract in April with just six days of service time, and a year earlier gave the same treatment to Ceddanne Rafaela (eight years, $50 million).

Anthony was not due to become a free agent until after the 2031 season at earliest.
