Rockies name Pacheco, Wilson interim hitting coaches; González shifts to 3B coach

The Rockies announced Monday that they have named Triple-A Hitting Coach Jordan Pacheco and Minor League Hitting Coordinator Nic Wilson as interim hitting coaches on the Major League coaching staff. Additionally, Assistant Hitting Coach Andy González will transition to third base coach for the remainder of the 2025 season, a role previously filled by interim manager Warren Schaeffer.

Pacheco joins a Major League staff for the first time in his coaching career after three-plus seasons as the hitting coach with Triple-A Albuquerque (2022-25) … played professionally for 14 seasons, including Major League stints with Colorado (2011-14), Arizona (2014-15) and Cincinnati (2016) … posted a .272 career batting average through 377 games … retired from playing professionally folowing the 2021 season … originally selected by Colorado in the ninth round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft, Pacheco appeared in 270 games with the Rockies … in 2012, the catcher/infielder appeared in 132 games for the Rockies, leading the club with a .309 batting average while adding 32 doubles.

Wilson is in his third season as the Rockies’ Minor League hitting coordinator and sixth overall with the organization … originally hired prior to the 2020 season as the hitting coach for Short-Season Boise, Wilson spent the 2021-22 seasons as the hitting coach with Single-A Fresno before transitioning to the hitting coordinator role … the Atlanta, Ga., native played two seasons of professional affiliated baseball in the Tampa Bay organization after being selected in the 24th round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Georgia State University.

González is in his third season on the Major League coaching staff after joining as an assistant hitting coach prior to the 2022 season … 2025 is his 11th overall season with the Rockies organization serving in a variety of coaching and managing roles throughout the Minor Leagues, most recently as the Rockies’ camps and fundamentals coordinator from 2019-21 … the Rio Piedra, P.R., native played professionally for 14 seasons after being drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the fifth round of the 2001 Draft, including three Major League seasons with Chicago-AL (2007), Cleveland (2008) and Florida (2009).
