BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today recalled right-handed pitcher Cooper Criswell from Triple-A Worcester. To make room, Boston optioned right-handed pitcher Richard Fitts to Worcester following last night’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
Criswell, 29, has pitched in six games this season for Boston, going 1-0 with one save and a 5.06 ERA (6 ER/10.2 IP). The right-hander has also posted a 3.32 ERA (22 ER/59.2 IP) with 63 strikeouts in 14 games (13 starts) for Worcester. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 13th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Georgia native owns a 4.63 ERA (76 ER/147.2 IP) in 44 career Major League games (20 starts) with the Angels (2021), Tampa Bay Rays (2022-23), and Red Sox (2024-25).
Fitts, 25, started last night against the Twins and allowed two runs in 4.0 innings. The right-hander has made 10 starts for Boston this season, posting a 4.83 ERA (22 ER/41.0 IP). He has also recorded a 4.20 ERA (7 ER/15.0 IP) in four minor league starts with Worcester (three starts) and Double-A Portland (one). Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Alabama native owns a 3.79 ERA (26 ER/61.2 IP) in 14 career Major League games, all starts for the Red Sox (2024-25).
