BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today placed right-handed pitcher Richard Fitts on the 15-Day Injured List with right arm neuritis. To fill his spot, Boston recalled left-handed pitcher Jovani Morán from Triple-A Worcester.
Fitts, 25, earned the win last night against the Baltimore Orioles, recording six strikeouts over 4.0 innings while allowing three runs. The right-hander has recorded a 5.00 ERA (25 ER/45.0 IP) in 11 games (10 starts) for Boston this season, as well as a 4.00 ERA (12 ER/27.0 IP) in six starts for Worcester. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Alabama native owns a 3.97 ERA (29 ER/65.2 IP) in 15 career Major League games (14 starts), all with the Red Sox (2024-25).
Morán, 28, has pitched in two games for Boston, allowing three runs in 4.0 innings. The left-hander has also posted a 3.54 ERA (8 ER/20.1) in 13 games (one start) with Worcester. Selected by the Minnesota Twins in the seventh round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft, the Puerto Rico native owns a 4.26 ERA (45 ER/95.0 IP) in 81 career Major League games with the Twins (2021-23) and Red Sox (2025).
