Kansas City, Mo. — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Wednesday’s game against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium:
- Left-handed pitcher Jacob Latz recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.
- Right-handed pitcher Cole Winn placed on 15-day Injured List (right arm fatigue).
Latz is available to pitch in tonight’s third tilt of a four-game series at Kansas City. In 25 appearances/3 starts over his first stint with Texas this year (April 16-July 31), the 29-year-old left-hander went 1-0 with a 3.23 ERA (20 ER/55.2 IP), a 1.33 WHIP figure, a .230 (47-204) opponent batting average, and 52 strikeouts against 27 walks. He has logged six relief outings of 3.0-or-more innings (T3rd-most in A.L. in 2025) while also starting 3 games for the Rangers (June 8 at Washington, June 24 at Baltimore, and July 20 vs. Detroit). Since being optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on August 1, Latz has pitched 6.0 shutout innings with 3 hits allowed, 3 walks, and 8 strikeouts across 4 relief appearances, including 1.2 scoreless frames in his most recent action on Saturday vs. Sacramento.
Winn, 25, last appeared in yesterday’s loss to Kansas City, allowing 2 runs over 1.1 innings pitched on a 2-run home run by Bobby Witt Jr. in the 8th inning. The right-hander has made 25 relief appearances across three stints with Texas (May 15-17, May 20-June 30, July 21-current), going 0-1 with a 1.45 ERA (5 ER/31.0 IP), a 1.00 WHIP figure, a .155 (16-103) opponent batting average, and 26 strikeouts against 15 walks. Among American League pitchers with 30.0-or-more innings pitched this season, Winn ranks among the leaders in ERA (4th) and opponent batting average (6th).
With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players (Cody Bradford, Tyler Mahle, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
