September 5th, 2025

Arlington, Tex. — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Friday’s series opener against the Houston Astros at Globe Life Field:

  • Outfielder Adolis García placed on 10-day Injured List (right quad strain), retroactive to September 2.
  • Outfielder Dustin Harris contract selected from Triple-A Round Rock.
  • Right-handed pitcher Jon Gray transferred from 15-day Injured List to 60-day Injured List.

García, 32, sustained the right quad injury while running to first base following his plate appearance in the top of the 9th inning on Monday vs. Arizona. He was removed for a defensive replacement in the bottom of the 9th and did not play Tuesday or Wednesday. This marks García's second stint on the Injured List this season, as he also logged a minimum stay on the 10-day IL from August 13-22 with a left ankle sprain. The outfielder has slashed .235/.277/.408/.685 (112-476) with 18 home runs, 28 doubles, and 73 RBI over 125 games for the Rangers in 2025, pacing the club in doubles, RBI, and extra-base hits (46) this year while posting a .368 (14-38) average and 1.032 OPS in his last 9 games from August 23-September 1.

The 26-year-old Harris is embarking on his second Major League stint with the Rangers this season, joining his previous stay on the active roster from April 9-May 8. The outfielder batted .200 (7-35) with one home run, 2 doubles, and one RBI over 16 games for Texas before being optioned to Round Rock on May 9. He was subsequently designated for assignment on July 31 to help make room on the club’s active roster for the acquisition of three pitchers at the trade deadline.

Harris has spent the balance of the campaign at Round Rock, batting .285/.369/.435/.804 (106-372) with 11 home runs, 2 triples, 19 doubles, 41 RBI and 33 stolen bases, ranking among Pacific Coast League leaders this season in stolen bases (T3rd), runs (70, T14th), and batting average (18th). He has hit safely in each of his last 17 games since August 15 at a .414 (29-70) clip, tied for the 4th-longest active hit streak in the Pacific Coast League.

Gray, 33, was placed on the 15-day Injured List with right shoulder nerve irritation on August 17. The right-hander went 1-1 with a 7.71 ERA (12 ER/14.0 IP) in 6 relief appearances for Texas after being activated from the 60-day Injured List (right forearm fracture) on July 23, last appearing on August 16 at Toronto. He is not eligible to be activated from the Injured List for the remainder of the 2025 regular season.

With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with five players (Cody Bradford, Evan Carter, Jon Gray, Tyler Mahle, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
