Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Sunday’s series finale against the Atlanta Braves at Globe Life Field:

  • Designated hitter/first baseman Joc Pederson activated from 10-day Injured List.
  • Infielder/outfielder Michael Helman optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.

Pederson was off the active roster for the last two months with a right hand fracture after being hit by a pitch by Bryse Wilson in the 4th inning on May 24 at Chicago-AL. The left-handed hitter was sent on an injury rehab assignment to Double-A Frisco on Thursday, going 2-for-6 with one walk and one run scored across 2 games. He was the RoughRiders’ designated hitter on Thursday at Wichita and started at first base Friday, logging 3 plate appearances and 4.0 innings of defensive action in a rain-shortened game.

The 33-year-old is batting .131/.269/.238/.507 (16-122) with 2 home runs, one triple, 5 doubles, 6 RBI, 20 walks, and 10 runs scored in 46 games with Texas this season, his first as a Ranger after signing a two-year free agent contract with the club in the offseason. Pederson has been utilized mostly as a designated hitter (38 games/36 starts) while also appearing in 3 games at first base (2 starts). The Palo Alto, Calif. native posted a .431 OBP and .863 OPS in his last 17 games with Texas from May 6-24 before landing on the Injured List. A veteran of 12 Major League seasons, the two-time All-Star (2015 with LAD, 2022 with SF) owns a career .801 OPS with 211 home runs and 555 RBI.

The 29-year-old Helman went 2-for-7 with one home run, 4 RBI, and 2 runs scored in 3 games with Texas during his latest stint with the club after being recalled from Round Rock on Monday, hitting his first career home run that night against the Athletics. In two stints with the Rangers in 2025 (June 27-July 16, July 21-26), the right-handed-hitting utility player is 2-for-11 (.182) with 2 walks in 8 games, including 5 starts in centerfield. Helman returns to Round Rock where he owns a .270 average (37-137) with 6 home runs and 25 RBI in 33 games this season.

With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players (Cody Bradford, Tyler Mahle, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
