For every little girl who dreams about a future in sports, the Orioles have three role models ready to show what’s possible.
We’ve seen female reporters, commentators, play-by-play announcers, coaches and now even umpires in Major League Baseball, but there’s even more that happens behind the scenes. MLB teamed up with Rebel Girls -- a girl empowerment brand -- to develop and produce original content showcasing women who work in baseball and outside the field of play to inspire the next generation of women who want to work in sports.
Rebel Girls spent a day at Camden Yards in the middle of the 2025 regular season to follow three women who work in the club’s front office: Nicole Sherry, who is a pioneer in the turf/grass field and the second woman to serve as the head groundskeeper of a big league team; Jackie Harig, who is one of the few women in the league to be a club’s public relations director; and Darline Llamas Llopis, who is breaking two stereotypes by proving women belong in sports and finance as the Orioles’ chief financial officer.
In the video that launched on Monday afternoon, viewers can go up close with all three of these powerful women to see what responsibilities they have on a day-to-day basis and the advice they’d give to young girls who are looking to chase a career in sports, reminding them it may not be as daunting as it seems from the outside.
The reason behind this collaboration is simply to empower young female fans to know that their dreams are possible. This builds on MLB’s ongoing commitment to advancing opportunities for women, including the league’s investment in Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) to help establish a sustainable professional platform for women’s softball.
For Rebel Girls, this project is part of its rapidly growing Rebel Girls Sport vertical, which has launched partnership with organizations like League One Volleyball (LOVB), Nike, Dove, Gotham FC and others. Through this initiative, Rebel Girls is aiming to inspire participation, celebrate women’s stories and build the next generation of sports fandom.
Major League Baseball and Rebel Girls are committed to showing that this behind-the-scenes look at women working in the big leagues will show young fans that the ballpark is full of possibilities, and our next leaders in sports may be watching from the stands today.
