Blaze's Clark makes Superman catch in win over Talons

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s … McKenzie Clark?

With DC’s "Superman" being released in theaters earlier this month, it was fitting that there was a superhero catch in Saturday’s slate of AUSL games. Perhaps it was even more appropriate that the player making that catch has a name similar to Clark Kent, aka Superman.

With two outs in the top of the second inning of the Blaze's 2-0 win over the Talons, Sahvanna Jaquish hit a line drive to right-center field that looked like a surefire base hit. The Blaze’s Clark had other ideas.

Clark sprawled out with a full-extension leaping grab to rob Jaquish of potential extra bases. In a season filled with so many memorable moments, Clark’s catch stands as one of the best, and certainly from the defensive side.

Clark, a three-time All-ACC performer and 2024 graduate of Clemson, gave the fans in Salt Lake City a moment they’ll remember forever. There’s also a good chance we’ll see Clark’s grab on highlight reels for years to come.

Bandits 4, Volts 3

It's been a stellar season with plenty of memorable wins for the Bandits. Their comeback win against the Volts on Saturday was up there with one of the best.

The Bandits -- who clinched a berth to the AUSL championship on Thursday and will face the Talons in a best-of-three set from July 26-28 in Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. -- trailed 3-0 entering the bottom of the fifth inning in Saturday's matchup. Then, the Bandits reeled off four runs to grab the lead and never looked back after that. The Bandits used four singles, a hit-by-pitch, a stolen base and a sacrifice fly to score their four runs and take the lead.
