Vote to upgrade speedsters in eBaseball™: MLB Pro Spirit

4:43 PM UTC

Star Watch, an MLB collaboration with eBaseball™: MLB Pro Spirit, lets baseball fans vote for the player they think will shine the most on the field from a selection of 10 top stars. There is a new stat theme featured every month, which for August is stolen bases.

Download the game now to vote on who you think will perform best, and the player with the best real-world stats will be upgraded in the game.

Voting ends Tuesday, and the following eight players are in the mix to be upgraded:

  • Corbin Carroll (AZ)
  • Pete Crow-Armstrong (CHC)
  • Brenton Doyle (COL)
  • Francisco Lindor (NYM)
  • Zach Neto (LAA)
  • Shohei Ohtani (LAD)
  • José Ramírez (CLE)
  • Luis Robert Jr. (CWS)

To help you vote, MLB.com has selected a few players from the above list for a closer look (all stats through Aug. 3).

Pete Crow-Armstrong (CHC)

He's going for a 40-40 season, so he's not about to hit the brakes now, certainly not while the Cubs are also caught in a heated battle for the NL Central. Crow-Armstrong is the fastest among the available options, with an average sprint speed of 29.6 ft/sec, and although speed doesn't guarantee stolen bases, he clearly knows what he's doing, being that he's only been caught five times in 34 chances, an 85.3% success rate.

José Ramírez (CLE)

Thinking in terms of expected number of opportunities, Ramírez has the second-highest on-base percentage in the group -- behind Ohtani, but that probably goes without saying. He's also the best hitter on a light-hitting team, so he has plenty of incentive to run, and he's really racking up the steals lately, tied for the MLB lead since June 1 (18, with CJ Abrams), with 10 in July alone.

Luis Robert Jr. (CWS)

Robert hit .190 in the first half with an equally troubling .275 OBP -- he stole 22 bases all the same, even though he all but stopped running in June and into July. The situation's a little different now, because since the break, both he and the White Sox are red-hot, and he already has seven steals in his last 12 games.

eBaseball™: MLB Pro Spirit features all 30 MLB teams, their home stadiums, as well as active MLB players, including KONAMI baseball game ambassador Shohei Ohtani. The game centers on collecting and training a roster of real MLB players to create the strongest team and compete against rivals to win a championship.
