Manny, A-Gon to take hacks at Home Run Derby X: Round Rock

July 17th, 2025

A Lone Star State rivalry is coming to Round Rock as Home Run Derby X takes over Dell Diamond on July 26. Astros World Series champion Josh Reddick will face off against former Rangers Kevin Mench and Todd Frazier to determine which team is the best in Texas. The 2004 Red Sox, who famously broke an 86-year World Series curse, will also take center stage, as Manny Ramirez and Kevin Millar -- key members from that team -- will compete against a Los Angeles Dodgers team led by five-time All-Star Adrián González. This HRDX event also features Reese Atwood and Katie Stewart from the 2025 National Championship Texas Longhorns softball team. These female superstars, joining a lineup with over 1,400 combined Major League home runs, have us set up for an amazing event in Round Rock.

Beloved star Hunter Pence will be on hand for the spectacle, too, this time taking over MCing duties.

The rules of this fast-paced Home Run Derby are unique. Click here for more information on rules, but here is a quick rundown:

  • Each of the four teams will feature three players.
  • Each batter gets two minutes and 30 seconds to take as many swings as possible.
  • They get one point for every home run -- with an extra point being awarded for a ball that flies through the outfield target.
  • During each at-bat, hitters can call for a "hot streak." They'll get double points for every ball they hit during the hot streak.

Here are the rosters for the four teams participating in Round Rock this season. Each will be seeking to join the Nationals, who won in the first HRDX tour stop of the year, for a spot in Salt Lake.

Rangers

Todd Frazier

Two-time All-Star Todd Frazier looks to bring home his second Home Run Derby title. Frazier, who won the 2015 HR Derby, will represent the Texas Rangers in Round Rock. Before making the big leagues, Frazier was a star on the Toms River East Little League team that won the Little League World Series in 1998. Over his 11 seasons in the Major Leagues, Frazier played for six different teams, finishing his career with 218 dingers. The third baseman hopes to use his previous HR Derby experience to help his team advance to Salt Lake.

Reese Atwood

Coming off a sensational year in which she was named NFCA Catcher of the Year, earned First Team All-American honors and won a national championship, Atwood now turns her focus to hitting dingers in Round Rock. The Longhorns star was not just dominant in the 2025 campaign, as she was also named the Softball America National Player of the Year in 2024. Atwood’s most well-known moment came this year in Game 1 of the College World Series National Championship, in which she hit a game-winning two-run single on a 3-0 pitch when Texas Tech was trying to intentionally walk her! Atwood will look to continue her winning streak in Round Rock.

Kevin Mench

Drafted by the Texas Rangers in the fourth round of the 1999 MLB Draft, Mench played with the Rangers for four seasons. The outfielder played eight seasons in the big leagues and finished with 89 career homers. His best season came with the Rangers in 2005 when he blasted 25 dingers. Mench is known around the league for having the largest hat size during his playing career at 8 1/4, which led to his nickname “Shrek.” One of Mench’s greatest accomplishments during his career came on April 28, 2006, when he became the first right-handed hitter to homer in seven consecutive games. Mench looks to bring that same power to HRDX this season.

Astros

Josh Reddick

Houston Astros 2017 World Series champion Josh Reddick will bring his smooth left-handed swing to Round Rock. In the Astros’ 2017 campaign, Reddick slashed .314/.363/.484. During his Major League career, Reddick won a Gold Glove in 2012 and hit 146 home runs. In four seasons with the Astros, Reddick robbed multiple home runs, which should help him on defense in his first Home Run Derby X appearance.

Elizabeth Mason

During her stellar career at Florida State, Mason won the 2018 National Championship while earning WCWS All-Tournament Team honors. Mason currently ranks tied for 11th in home runs and 13th in RBIs in Seminoles softball history. Mason is currently an assistant coach at University of Texas Arlington and plays for the Atlanta Smoke.

Travis Sanders

After spending two years at Texas Tech, Travis Sanders transferred to Baylor University. In his first season with the Bears, Sanders was a 2025 All-Big 12 honorable mention, finishing the season slashing .335/.425/.549. The 21-year old infielder from Copperas Cove, Texas, crushed a walk-off homer for Baylor this season and is now excited to show off his power in front of the Round Rock faithful.

Red Sox

Manny Ramirez

One of the sweetest right-handed swings in baseball history will be stepping back into the box in Round Rock. Ramirez had a stellar career with 12 All-Star selections, nine Silver Slugger awards, two World Series and a batting title. The Dominican Republic native is known for his clutch October hitting, as he leads the Major Leagues in career Postseason home runs with 29. Ramirez who continues to stick around the game he loves is excited to launch more dingers into the stands in Round Rock.

Katie Stewart

Entering her junior year at Texas, Katie Stewart has already cemented herself in the Longhorn record books. The 2024 Softball America Freshman of the Year has slashed .375/.471/.696 in her Longhorn career thus far and helped lead Texas to a 2025 National Championship trophy. Stewart is hoping that the National Championship is not the only hardware she brings home this year, as she hopes to claim a Home Run Derby X trophy.

Kevin Millar

Known for his outgoing and humorous personality, Kevin Millar currently hosts Intentional Talk on the MLB Network. The 12-year big leaguer is most notably known for his role on the 2004 Red Sox World Series team. Millar was a leader in the Boston clubhouse and stayed confident despite the Red Sox trailing 3-0 in the 2004 ALCS against the Yankees, as he famously went around saying, “Don’t let the Sox win tonight,” before Game 4. He was right; in fact, Millar played a key role in the series comeback, drawing a leadoff walk in the ninth inning of Game 4 against Mariano Rivera. Millar’s walk led to the Sox tying the game, which they would ultimately win, propelling their magical run. The right-hander hopes to bring that same winning energy to Round Rock to help secure a spot in Salt Lake.

Dodgers

Adrián González

The five-time All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger and four-time Gold Glove winner Adrián González will look to lead the Dodgers to victory in Round Rock. The left-handed first baseman hit 317 home runs during his 15-year big league career. González played for Mexico in four World Baseball Classics and in the 2020 Olympic Games. González is also not new to HRDX, as he came up just short in the finals of the Mexico City event in 2022.

Mya Perez

After breaking a 43-year-old program record for single season RBIs at Texas A&M in 2025, Mya Perez looks to continue her hot hitting in Round Rock. Perez hit .424 and finished ranked in the top twenty nationally in on-base-percentage at .561 for the Aggies in her sophomore season. Perez is not only a star on the field but also in the classroom, as she was the first Aggie softball player since 2008 to be named an Academic All-American in 2025.

Grady Emerson

After finishing in second-place at the High School HR Derby during All-Star weekend, Grady Emerson is back for more Derby action. The potential 2026 first overall Draft pick will be the youngest HRDX participant ever at 17 years old. However, the Texas commit certainly will not be intimidated going up against former MLB stars, as he has already played on big stages for Team USA’s 18U National Team where he earned All-Tournament honors in the WBSC World Cup Americas qualifiers. Emerson is also Perfect Game’s No. 1-ranked player in the 2026 prep class. Using his recent Home Run Derby experience, Emerson should be ready to put on a show in Round Rock.
