Mayfair School takes part in Skilled Trades All-Star Program by NEST

What a fun field trip for middle school students from Mayfair School, who participated in the second annual Skilled Trades All-Star Program at Citizens Bank Park, which was hosted by the Phillies and South Jersey-based facilities management firm NEST on Tuesday, June 3.

Students had a full day of hands-on learning focused on real-world careers in the skilled trades. Participants had the chance to rotate through operational areas of the stadium – such as the HVAC controls room, carpenter shop, mechanical systems, and the grounds crew facility – while engaging directly with the Phillies’ facilities team and trade professionals, including those from Oak View Group (OVG), which is the facility manager for Citizens Bank Park.

In addition to special guest speakers including NEST CEO Rob Almond and Carolyn DiGiuseppe, General Manager of Facility Services at Citizens Bank Park for OVG, students also had the chance to meet the Phillie Phanatic.

NEST helped establish the Skilled Trades Advisory Council (STAC) in 2023 to spotlight careers in the trades and combat the growing labor shortage. The Skilled Trades All-Star Program is a direct extension of that mission—bringing awareness, access, and mentorship to Philadelphia’s next generation of trade professionals.
