Improbable catch in stands requires one hat ... and two fans!

It took two to make a thing go right at Target Field on Monday night.

A pair of fans behind home plate combined to make an improbable catch on a towering foul pop off the bat of Cody Bellinger. The first fan thought he had it lined up and held out his hat as the ball made its descent. But the downward momentum wrenched the flimsy cap out of his hand, and another fan standing directly behind him was somehow able to corral both hat and baseball.

They looked at each other incredulously for a moment, then raised their hands high over their heads in triumph, realizing this catch never would have been made without both of their involvement. Then they excitedly embraced, in one of the purer fan interactions you'll see at a sporting event.

We've already witnessed multiple instances this season of fans catching baseballs with their hats, including this one on a foul ball and this one on a Danny Jansen homer. It's not exactly uncommon. But to see one fan start off with the hat and another one end up with it -- and the ball! -- seems like one that'll be hard to replicate.

Which of them will be going home with the ball is another question entirely, but we're at least hoping the first guy got his hat back.
