There's some good news regarding the fan who fell from the right-field bleachers and onto the warning track at PNC Park during the Pirates-Cubs game on Wednesday night.

According to an Instagram post by his girlfriend on Saturday, Kavan Markwood is "awake and continuing to work toward making his body stronger each day."

And according to a GoFundMe page set up to help Markwood and his family during this difficult time, he is "awake, alert and able to speak."

After Markwood fell onto the field during Wednesday's game, he was tended to by stadium medical staff and transported to Allegheny General Hospital, where he was considered to be in critical condition.

Pirates icon Andrew McCutchen said the next day that players gathered to pray for the young man, adding that he hoped for good news.

"After everything he’s been through since the accident on Wednesday night, this progress feels nothing short of miraculous," the GoFundMe update read. "He still has a long road ahead of him, but today brought a moment of hope that we’ve all been holding onto."
