You never stop being a dad.
We saw that ring true before the fifth inning of Saturday’s Mariners-Angels game at Angel Stadium. The Halos' first-base coach Eric Young Sr. left a protein bar in the first-base coach’s box for his son, Eric Young Jr., who mans the box for Seattle.
This isn’t the first time the elder Young has left a snack for his son on a baseball field. Two years ago during a Braves-Nationals game, Young Sr., then the first-base coach for Atlanta, threw a snack on the field for Young Jr., who was the first-base coach with Washington.
Surely, this is something that Young Sr. has gotten used to over the years of raising a kid. And with Father’s Day just around the corner, what better gesture than making sure your son has enough nutrition during a baseball game.
