O's No. 3 prospect Beavers called up for MLB debut

HOUSTON -- The wait is finally over for . The 24-year-old outfielder is heading to The Show.

On Saturday, the Orioles selected the contract of Beavers (the club’s No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline) and added him to their roster ahead of the middle contest of their three-game series vs. the Astros at Daikin Park. Greg Allen was designated for assignment as the corresponding move.

Beavers was immediately inserted into Baltimore's lineup on Saturday, starting in right field and batting sixth. And he’s earned the opportunity.

In 94 games for Triple-A Norfolk this season, Beavers slashed .304/.420/.515 with 14 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs, 51 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. It was an impressive showing after the San Luis Obispo, Calif., native reached Triple-A for the first time in 2024, playing six games late.

The No. 33 overall pick in Competitive Balance Round A in the 2022 MLB Draft out of the University of California, Berkeley, Beavers has the ability to play all three outfield spots. However, he’s best in the corners, and that’s likely where he’ll get most of his playing time for Baltimore.

There should be plenty of opportunities for Beavers to play at the moment, even if Colton Cowser (concussion protocol) returns from the injured list on Sunday, as expected.

Tyler O’Neill (right wrist inflammation) is currently on the IL, so the O’s have often been playing infielder Jeremiah Jackson in right field and Dylan Carlson (who is starting to heat up after a prolonged slump in left). They also have Daniel Johnson -- a journeyman claimed off waivers from the Giants on Monday -- and first baseman Ryan Noda, who can play the corners.

The left-handed-hitting Beavers should get an extended run, especially with the Orioles (56-66) already looking toward the 2026 season and hoping to get some youngsters time in the Majors down the stretch.

More prospects will likely be on the way, including catcher/first baseman Samuel Basallo (the O’s No. 1 prospect and MLB Pipeline’s No. 8 overall).
