DODGERS SELECT ALEX FREELAND

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of Alex Freeland and placed infielder Hyeseong Kim on the injured list with left shoulder bursitis.

Freeland, 23, heads to the Major Leagues for the first time in his career. He appeared in 93 games for the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets, slashing .253/.377/.421 with 12 homers and 71 RBI. He was a Spring Training Invitee, playing 10 games during the Cactus League slate, batting .300 with one homer and three runs scored. He has been with the Dodgers since being selected in the third round of the 2022 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Central Florida. In 344 minor league games, he batted .253 with 42 homers and 208 RBI while playing three defensive positions.

Kim, 26, went 0-for-3 last night with a sacrifice bunt. He is batting .304 with two homers and 15 RBI in 58 games this season. Prior to joining the Dodgers, he played in 28 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City, batting .252 with five homers and 19 RBI. He joined the Dodgers this offseason after spending the last eight years in the Korean Baseball League. During his time in Korea, he slashed .304/.364/.403 with 37 homers and 211 stolen bases. He signed with Los Angeles on January 3, 2025.
