DODGERS ADD BUDDY KENNEDY
LOS ANGELE**S –** The Los Angeles Dodgers have claimed infielder Buddy Kennedy from the Toronto Blue Jays and placed infielder Max Muncy on the injured list with an oblique strain. In order to make room on the 40-man roster for Kennedy, the Dodgers designated right-handed pitcher Julian Fernández for assignment.
Kennedy, 26, was designated for assignment on August 12 after recording one hit in five at-bats for the Blue Jays. He has been in the Major Leagues parts of four seasons with Arizona (2022-23), Detroit (2024), Philadelphia (2024-25) and Toronto (2025), batting .193 with two homers and 19 RBI. In 681 minor league games, he has amassed 66 homers and 345 RBI. He was drafted by the Diamondbacks in 2017 in the fifth round from Millville High School.
Muncy, 34, heads to the injured list for the second time this season. He has played in 89 games this season, hitting .258 with 17 homers and 64 RBI. He clubbed his 200th career homer on May 31 against the Yankees and he is seventh all-time in franchise history with 207 career homers. He has been with the Dodgers eight seasons, slashing .233/.359/.487 with 584 career RBI. Prior to joining the Dodgers, he played two seasons with the Athletics, clubbing five homers and driving in 17 in 96 games. He was drafted by the Athletics in the fifth round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of Baylor University.
