Buxton, Baldelli happy about Pohlads remaining Twins' principal owners

NEW YORK – Outfielder and manager were pleased to learn that the Pohlad family will retain ownership of the Twins. The team also plans to add two limited partnership groups in the future. The announcement was made by the family on Wednesday morning.

Buxton said he wants to continue playing for the people who gave him his seven-year, $100 million extension in December 2021 and help add a third World Series trophy to their rich history.

“Everybody knows I want to be a Twin. It's good to know that the people that signed me are still in charge. To be able to move forward, it’s exciting,” Buxton said. “Going forward, that makes the conversations a little bit easier knowing that my whole tenure here I’ve worked under the Pohlads. Just knowing the family a little bit, that’s the special part of being able to have those conversations down the road.”

Baldelli has been the Twins’ manager for seven years and credits the Pohlads for his accomplishments during that period. Minnesota has gone to the postseason three times under Baldelli’s leadership. Going forward, Baldelli said most of his energy will be spent on the field and on the game at hand.

“I’m focused on winning and bringing a championship back to our city. That’s my goal,” Baldelli said. “That’s what I spend my time thinking about. I don’t get too involved in the big picture. I stay on the field, in the clubhouse and dugout. I will continue to do that. Obviously, it’s a big day organizationally, but I’m going to stay focused on beating the Yankees.”
