BOSTON -- The Dodgers made a pair of roster moves to bolster their pitching staff prior to their series finale at Fenway Park on Sunday, activating right-hander Blake Treinen and recalling left-hander Justin Wrobleski from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Treinen is 0-2 with two saves and a 3.38 ERA in eight appearances this season, but those all came very early as the reliever was sidelined in mid-April with right forearm tightness that caused him to miss 84 games.
“I think the only thing that I’m going to be mindful of is the up-down,” said manager Dave Roberts, on if he needs to exercise caution with the 37-year-old. “But I think [for him] to come into an inning of leverage, I’ve got no problem. If an inning gets longer, as far as pitch count, being more mindful. Outside of that, normal usage.”
This will be Wrobleski’s fourth time up with the big club this season, having gone 4-3 with a 4.50 ERA over eight games (two starts). With Oklahoma City this season, the southpaw is 2-1 with 4.18 ERA in 11 games (10 starts).
“He’s going to be in the 'pen,” Roberts said of Wrobleski’s role. “He’s a starter, but I think that just trying to get a quality arm, add some length potentially, but still using him in two-inning spurts, three-inning spurts, will be helpful for our 'pen.”
In corresponding moves, the club optioned right-handers Will Klein and Edgardo Henriquez to Oklahoma City.
