LOS ANGELES -- Blake Snell stretched out to four innings on 58 pitches with Triple-A Oklahoma City in his third rehab start on Sunday afternoon. Facing the Giants' Triple-A affiliate, the Sacramento River Cats, Snell struck out six while allowing a run on four hits and a walk.
Snell has struck out an impressive 17 hitters in nine innings while on his rehab assignment. His prior two starts came with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and the Dodgers' Arizona Complex League affiliate.
Manager Dave Roberts said Snell will make one more start in the Minors, with the goal of getting him through five innings, before he's an option to return to the Dodgers' rotation.
Righty reliever Blake Treinen also pitched in the game, striking out two in a scoreless inning in his fifth rehab outing.
Having pitched in two games in three days -- he also made an appearance for the Comets on Friday -- the last box Treinen needs to check before returning to L.A. will be pitching on back-to-back days next week.
Snell, who joined the Dodgers on a five-year, $182 million deal this past offseason, has been on the injured list since April 6 (backdated to April 3) with inflammation in his left shoulder. He allowed seven runs (two earned) across nine innings in two starts before being sidelined.
Once Snell returns, the Dodgers starters on the bubble would appear to be Dustin May and Emmet Sheehan. May has long exceeded his previous single-season career high in innings and will make his next appearance in relief of Shohei Ohtani, while Sheehan has options and is coming off his worst outing of the season, when he gave up five runs in three-plus innings on Saturday.
