Adam Ottavino isn't pitching at the moment, but the longtime reliever is still keeping his head in the game by dishing out MLB analysis and commentary on YouTube.
Ottavino's "Baseball and Coffee" live-stream show debuted earlier this month, and on Friday, he'll take a big step with the production by hosting his first episode on MLB's official YouTube channel. The 15-year big league veteran will break down the biggest stories from around the Majors starting at 10:30 a.m. ET.
The Friday show will be a weekly feature on the MLB YouTube channel and will be a continuation of what Ottavino's done with "Baseball and Coffee" on his own channel.
Topics on the show so far have included a breakdown of Roman Anthony's season with the Red Sox, incorporating clips of Anthony's at-bats as Ottavino offered insight and analysis, as well as his thoughts on how the automatic runner in extra innings affects strategy and psychology for the defense.
Other topics have included a breakdown of matchups between Shohei Ohtani and Brewers flamethrower Jacob Misiorowski, Ottavino's analysis of Patrick Bailey's epic walk-off inside-the-park home run against the Phillies and a dive into Pirates ace Paul Skenes and A's rookie Nick Kurtz.
Ottavino, 39, last pitched in April, making three scoreless appearances for the Yankees. He has a 3.48 career ERA with 862 strikeouts in 744 2/3 innings. Along with two stints with the Yankees, he's pitched for the Rockies, Mets, Red Sox and Cardinals.
