Pipeline Podcast: Digging deeper into intriguing AL East prospects

2:24 AM UTC

As the Minor League season begins its second month, the Pipeline Podcast crew begins a look at the most intriguing prospects from each division, beginning in the East.

There's no shortage of intriguing talent in the AL East, and Jim Callis, Jonathan Mayo and Jason Ratliff dig deeper into players like 2024 first-rounder Trey Yesavage (TOR No. 2/MLB No. 82) and 18-year-old slugger Justin Gonzales (BOS No. 16), who is just beginning his affiliated career with Single-A Salem.

Mayo also talks with Yankees infielder and Top 100 prospect George Lombard Jr. (NYY No. 1/MLB No. 96). It was an ideal time to chat with the 19-year-old, who was off to a sizzling start at High-A Hudson Valley and now finds himself one step closer to The Show after he was promoted to Double-A Somerset on Monday.

After looking some beasts of the East, the discussion turns toward the 2025 MLB Draft and some of the increasing buzz two months away from the event. The talk coincides with the release of Jim's first mock draft of the year, which features plenty of notable talent but one very familiar name sitting atop the list.

The podcast closes with the crew answering a mailbag question about Andrew Painter (PHI No. 1/MLB No. 5), who is scheduled to make his Triple-A debut at Lehigh Valley on Thursday.
