White Sox promote top prospect Schultz to Triple-A

June 14th, 2025

CHICAGO -- The challenge for , the No. 1 left-handed pitching prospect in the game and the No. 1 White Sox prospect (per MLB Pipeline) seemingly grew a little tougher as he was promoted to Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.

Truist Field, which is home to the Knights, is a stunning ballpark and probably one of the better Minor League venues around. It’s also not exactly the most pitcher-friendly environment, leaving some to speculate Schultz might have made the jump directly from Double-A Birmingham to the White Sox when he was ready.

Maybe Truist Field should be more worried about handling the high-level stuff from the 6-foot-10, 21-year-old. He posted a 4-3 record with a 3.34 ERA over 12 starts and 56 2/3 innings for the Barons. He struck out 58, walked 36 and allowed 54 hits, with the last two numbers up a bit from the 30 total walks and 80 total hits yielded over his first 115 1/3 Minor League innings in 2023-24.

But Schultz has been on a roll of late. He has allowed four runs (three earned) over his past 20 2/3 innings, covering four starts, with 19 strikeouts against 13 walks. Schultz struck out seven, walked five and yielded one hit during his last start, lasting 5 2/3 scoreless innings on June 12 at Montgomery. Schultz, ranked by MLB Pipeline as the No. 13 prospect in baseball, appears to be firmly in the picture for a Major League callup during the 2025 campaign.

He joins shortstop Colson Montgomery, third baseman Bryan Ramos and right-hander Wikelman González as a few other White Sox prospects with Major League promotion possibilities, alongside the plethora of prospects already part of Chicago's burgeoning young roster.

“We certainly are big believers in Noah Schultz,” White Sox general manager Chris Getz said during an end-of-May interview about the big left-hander. “You look at what he's done throughout his career and this year, and all signs point toward a frontline starter in the big leagues.”
