Status: Suzuki rejoined the team ahead of its flight to Pittsburgh on Sunday, after what manager Craig Counsell referred to as “a version of bronchitis, essentially.” Was out of the lineup on Sept. 15, marking his fourth straight game on the sidelines. (updated Sept. 15)
C Miguel Amaya
Injury: Left ankle sprain
IL date: Aug. 14 (10-day IL)

Status: Not quite back to 100 percent health, but will start at designated hitter for Triple-A Iowa on Sept. 16. Manager Craig Counsell is hopeful Amaya will be able to transition to catching duties later in the week. (updated Sept. 15) More >>

Injury: Left calf strain
IL date: Sept. 9 (10-day IL, retroactive to Sept. 6)
Expected return: Mid-to-late September

Status: Walked all three batters he faced in latest rehab game with Triple-A Iowa on Sept. 7. Was in Atlanta with Cubs, but to throw bullpen with MLB staff to work on his mechanics. Next step to be determined. (updated Sept. 8)

IL date: April 15 (transferred to 60-day IL on May 10)

Status: Began Minor League rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Aug. 27. Resumed throwing program in late June and returned to rehab games on Aug. 20. (updated Aug. 29)
LHP Justin Steele
