Kyle Tucker’s commitment to community service is rooted in a deeply personal experience. In 2021, his family witnessed the extraordinary compassion of hospice caregivers as they cared for his grandfather in his final days. That moment changed Kyle’s life, and sparked a mission to ensure other families receive the same dignity, comfort and care at life’s most vulnerable stage.
In 2022, Kyle founded the Kyle Tucker Foundation to build a legacy of compassion by supporting hospice care programs and honoring the unsung heroes who provide this essential service.
At the heart of the foundation is Hospice Heroes, a signature initiative that shines a spotlight on the caregivers who bring comfort and peace to families during life’s most difficult moments. These caregivers are recognized year-round through social media spotlights and special events, including the annual Day at the Park.
Launched in Houston in 2023, Day at the Park honors hospice teams with on-field recognition, suite experiences, swag bags and donations to hospice organizations. In 2025, Kyle brought this powerful event to Chicago in partnership with Cubs Charities, the Elea Institute and Yeti, welcoming caregivers to Wrigley Field.
To date, Hospice Heroes has celebrated caregivers from:
- Chicago: Advocate Health Care, JourneyCare Hospice, Lightways Hospice
- Houston: Houston Hospice
- Tampa: Chapters Health
Kyle’s generosity extends far beyond hospice care. In every city that’s shaped his journey, he gives back with heart and purpose.
In Tampa, the foundation hosts an annual holiday toy drive for St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and a Topgolf fundraiser that brings fans, sponsors and supporters together to benefit hospice and other local causes.
In Houston, Kyle and his wife, Samantha, were deeply involved with the Sunshine Kids Foundation, creating joyful experiences for children suffering from cancer, and Dec My Room, which transforms hospital rooms into comforting spaces for pediatric patients. Plans are underway to bring Sunshine Kids and Dec My Room to Chicago this year.
Kyle also co-hosted the Team Up fundraiser with fellow MLB players, pooling resources to support causes including hospice care, childhood cancer, animal rescue, homelessness and disaster relief. From 2022-24, Team Up raised more than $1.15 million.
Kyle leverages his platform and partnerships to amplify impact. In Chicago, collaborations with Mordecai and Kendra Scott have generated specialty items that benefit the foundation. In Houston, partnerships with Holler Brewing and X Label Apparel did the same.
He also lends his time to national efforts, participating in events like Reggie Jackson’s Mr. October Foundation Golf Tournament, the HelpCureHD Golf Tournament and Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Foundation Classic, supporting causes from Huntington’s disease to STEM education.
Since joining the Cubs in 2025, Kyle has quickly become a clubhouse leader known for his humility, kindness and unwavering commitment to service.
The way Cubs Charities has partnered with the Kyle Tucker Foundation has not only amplified our community impact but also helped us develop a model for getting all our players civically involved. It’s become a blueprint for how we can integrate purpose-driven work into the culture of our team.
Kyle’s work with hospice care is especially meaningful, because while every family’s journey is different, nearly every family is touched by end-of-life care. His dedication to honoring hospice heroes, uplifting communities and inspiring others through action makes him a powerful embodiment of Roberto Clemente’s legacy.
Thank you for considering Kyle Tucker for the 2025 Roberto Clemente Award.
