FGCU's Dempsey named Olerud Award winner
Florida Gulf Coast star Evan Dempsey has been named the 2025 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year after excelling as both a right-handed pitcher and outfielder.
MoreThe John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award is presented annually by the College Baseball Foundation to honor the nation's top combo pitcher-position player.
Olerud, who was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007, was a standout pitcher and first baseman at Washington State University from 1987 through 1989.
With 34 home runs and 31 intentional walks at the plate and a 5-2 record with 83 strikeouts on the mound, Jac Caglianone displayed a prowess that made him one of the best two-way players to come through the college game, winning the 2024 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award. More »

Brendan McKay won the Olerud Award for the second straight year after another stellar season for Louisville. McKay went 12-4 with a 2.30 ERA and 128 strikeouts on the mound and batted .333 with six homers and 41 RBIs. Video »

Marco Gonzales captured the Olerud Award with a stellar junior season as a first baseman and pitcher. He hit .311 with seven doubles and 26 RBIs at the plate, and on the mound went 7-3 with a 2.80 ERA and 96 strikeouts over 106 innings. Gonzales receives award » | Gonzales on award »

Brian Johnson finished the season with an 8-5 record, 3.90 ERA and 73 strikeouts on the mound. The left-hander, who was chosen first-team All-SEC for the past two seasons, also posted a .307 batting average with six home runs and 41 RBIs as a designated hitter. Johnson wins » | Johnson on award »

Mike McGee, a junior from Port St. Lucie, Fla., turned in an outstanding season as both a Seminoles closer and outfielder. On the mound, McGee posted a 4-1 record with 13 saves and a 2.96 ERA. He also made 62 starts in left field, while hitting .328 with 17 home runs and 73 RBIs. Video »
