April 7th, 2025

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Athletics selected right-handed pitcher Jason Alexander from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned right-handed pitcher Joey Estes to Las Vegas, the club announced today. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A’s transferred left-handed pitcher Brady Basso to the 60-day injured list.

Alexander was a non-roster invitee with the A’s this spring and compiled a 5.59 ERA and .754 opponents OPS in five relief appearances before he was reassigned to minor league camp on March 10. He began the regular season at Triple-A Las Vegas and made one start on April 2 against Sacramento, a no decision in a 6-3 Aviators win (3.1 ip, 3 h, 2 r, 1 er, 0 bb, 3 so). The 32-year-old right-hander is 2-3 with a 5.40 ERA in 18 career appearances, including 11 starts, in the majors, all with Milwaukee in 2022.

Estes was on the A’s Opening Day roster and went 0-2 with a 15.43 ERA in two starts. He allowed 12 runs on 15 hits and six walks in 7.0 innings while striking out five. Basso began the season on the 15-day injured list with a strained left shoulder.
