Injury: Right oblique strain
IL date: May 2 (10-day, retroactive to April 30)
Expected return: Possibly June
Status: Chisholm sustained the injury on a first-inning foul ball in Baltimore on April 29. An MRI May 1 revealed a “high-grade” oblique strain, which could keep him out for 4-6 weeks. (updated May 2) More >>
INF DJ LeMahieu
Injury: Left calf strain
IL date: March 24 (10-day)
Expected return: May
Status: Received a cortisone injection in his right hip on April 29, per manager Aaron Boone. LeMahieu missed time last season with a right hip impingement. Scheduled to resume playing in games on May 2 for Double-A Somerset, as the club wants him to continue stacking game action at second and third base. (updated May 2) More >>
DH Giancarlo Stanton
Injury: Torn tendons in both elbows
IL date: March 24 (10-day)
Expected return: Possibly June
Status: Stanton is with the Yankees in New York, continuing to hit off a high-velocity machine and performing on-field running, as of May 2. Took a big step by hitting in on-field BP on April 22. Could hit in live batting practice during the week of May 4. (updated May 2) More >>
RHP Jake Cousins
Injury: Right forearm strain
IL date: March 27 (60-day)
Expected return: June
Status: Cousins tossed a bullpen on April 25 at Yankee Stadium as he continues to advance toward facing hitters, which should happen during the week of May 4. Cousins said on April 25 that he is aiming for a big league return in early-to-mid June. Cousins was transferred to the 60-day injured list on March 27; he is eligible to return May 26. RHP Clayton Beeter
Injury: Right rotator impingement syndrome
IL date: March 24 (15-day)
Expected return: Possibly May
Status: Made one Minor League rehab assignment for Single-A Tampa on April 20, then pitched for Double-A Somerset on April 23 and April 26 before being transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 2. (updated May 2)
RHP Jonathan Loáisiga
Injury: Recovery from right UCL surgery
IL date: March 24 (15-day)
Expected return: Late May/early June
Status: Loáisiga began a rehab assignment on April 26 with Single-A Tampa and is “still a few weeks away,” according to Aaron Boone, as the club will want him to pitch on back-to-back days. He pitched on April 30, then is slated to make another appearance before being promoted to Double-A or Triple-A.(updated April 28)
RHP Marcus Stroman
Injury: Left knee inflammation
IL date: April 12 (15-day)
Expected return: May
Status: Stroman is still experiencing discomfort as of April 28, according to Aaron Boone, who said Stroman is continuing to play catch but has “nothing ramped up yet" and that he is dealing with “some irritation that won’t leave." (updated April 28) More >>
RHP Scott Effross
Injury: Left hamstring strain
IL date: March 24 (15-day)
Expected return: TBD
Status: Effross will begin throwing live BP during the first week of May, Aaron Boone said on April 28. He exited a Feb. 25 exhibition after one pitch and was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, then experienced a setback in his recovery in early April. (updated April 28)
RHP JT Brubaker
Injury: Fractured ribs

Status: Sustained three fractured ribs attempting to elude comebacker in his spring debut on Feb. 21. Transferred to 60-day IL on April 1. (updated April 1)
RHP Gerrit Cole
Injury: Right elbow ligament tear

Expected return: 2026
Status: Underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery on March 11 in Los Angeles. The procedure, performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, was a complete UCL reconstruction that also included an internal brace. Placed on 60-day injured list March 22. (updated March 22) More >>
