Injury: Right elbow discomfort

Status: Experienced discomfort during June 18 appearance. Aaron Boone said on June 21 that testing revealed “nothing acute or new. I think they view it as good news, and hopefully he’s into throwing here in pretty short order.” (updated June 21)
RHP Luis Gil
Injury: Right lat strain
IL date: March 24 (60-day)
Expected return: Possibly July/August
Status: Threw approximately 20 pitches in live BP on June 21, with velocity clocked in the mid-90s. More live BPs will follow before he begins a Minor League rehab assignment. (updated June 21) More >>
3B Oswaldo Cabrera
Injury: Left ankle fracture
IL date: May 13 (10-day IL, transferred to 60-day IL on June 19)
Expected return: Likely 2026
Status: Underwent surgery to repair a fractured left ankle and ligament damage May 15. Manager Aaron Boone: “probably unlikely” Cabrera will return this season. On June 5, Cabrera said recovery is going well; using scooter and protective boot. Has not ruled out returning this year. (updated June 19) More >>
RHP Jake Cousins
Injury: Right UCL tear
IL date: March 27 (60-day)
Expected return: 2026
Status: Club announced on June 16 that Cousins will have Tommy John surgery, which he underwent on June 18. (updated June 19) More >>
RHP Marcus Stroman
Injury: Left knee inflammation
IL date: April 12 (15-day)
Expected return: June
Status: Tossed 3 1/3 innings (55 pitches) for Double-A Somerset on June 18, permitting three runs (two earned) and two hits. He walked one and struck out four. (updated June 18)
RHP Gerrit Cole
Injury: Right elbow ligament tear
IL date: March 22 (60-day)
Expected return: 2026
Status: Underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery on March 11 in Los Angeles. The procedure, performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, was a complete UCL reconstruction that also included an internal brace. Cole said May 5 he expects to resume playing catch in August and is planning on a 14-month recovery from the date of surgery. (updated May 6) More >>
