Injury: Right mid back stiffness
IL date: Aug. 3 (retroactive to Aug. 2)
Expected return: Mid-August
Status: Experienced discomfort after pitching Aug. 1. Underwent an MRI on Aug. 4 that came out “pretty clean,” manager Aaron Boone said. “We’re hoping that it’s a short thing ... hopefully he’s only out for the 15 days." (updated Aug. 4)

Injury: Left fibular head stress fracture
IL date: July 8 (15-day; retroactive to July 7)
Expected return: Aug. 5
Status: Threw 16 pitches in a Minor League rehab appearance for Double-A Somerset on Aug. 2. Expected to be activated before the Aug. 5 game in Texas, per manager Aaron Boone. (updated Aug. 4) More >>

RHP Clarke Schmidt
Injury: Tommy John surgery
IL date: July 4 (15-day, transferred to 60-day on July 30)
Expected return: Likely 2027
Status: Underwent Tommy John surgery July 11. Schmidt said July 28 it was not a full reconstruction, with an internal brace used. He has been given a recovery timeline of 11-13 months, and he was transferred to the 60-day IL on July 30. This was Schmidt’s second TJ procedure; his first was when he was a junior at University of South Carolina. (updated July 30) More >>

3B Oswaldo Cabrera
Injury: Left ankle fracture
IL date: May 13 (10-day IL, transferred to 60-day IL on June 19)
Expected return: Likely 2026
Status: Underwent surgery to repair a fractured left ankle and ligament damage May 15. Manager Aaron Boone: “probably unlikely” Cabrera will return this season. Injury: Right UCL tear
IL date: March 27 (60-day)
Expected return: 2026
Status: Club announced on June 16 that Cousins will have Tommy John surgery, which he underwent on June 18. (updated June 19) More >>
RHP Gerrit Cole
Injury: Right elbow ligament tear
IL date: March 22 (60-day)
Expected return: 2026
Status: Underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery on March 11 in Los Angeles. The procedure, performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, was a complete UCL reconstruction that also included an internal brace. Cole said May 5 he expects to resume playing catch in August and is planning on a 14-month recovery from the date of surgery. (updated May 6) More >>
