What’s Happening This Week at Citizens Bank Park: Phillies vs. Mets, September 8-11
Only two homestands remain! The Phillies return home to take on the division rival New York Mets in a four-game series. Here’s a look at some of the fan highlights.
The series begins on Monday, September 8, with Margaritaville Night at the 6:45 p.m. game. Gate openings: 3B/LF – 4:45 p.m.; all other gates 5:15 p.m.
- Enjoy a performance by Jimmy and the Parrots in Ashburn Alley behind Section 148 from 4:45 – 6:15 p.m.
- Stop by the New Era Phillies Team Store for Margaritaville-themed merchandise including a can cooler, magnet, T-shirt and hoodie.
- Before the game, Dr. Jennifer Chrisman, a kindergarten teacher at Rainbow Elementary in Coatesville, Pa., will be honored on-field as part of the Independence Blue Cross Honor Roll program, which recognizes teachers who are hitting it out of the park with their achievements both in and out of the classroom.
- Plus, a Philadelphia Zoo representative will throw a ceremonial first pitch – accompanied by a live snake!
- At the end of the 3rd inning, WWII veteran Alan Shapiro will be honored as that night’s Hometown Hero presented by Toyota.
Fans are invited to take photos with a giant baseball glove sculpture, built entirely from Citizens credit cards by Guinness World Record-holding card stacker Bryan Berg, which will be on display at the Left Field Plaza until Wednesday, September 10.
- Also from 9/8 to 9/10, Citizens customers score perks for banking with the home team by getting 25% off concessions when paying with a Citizens debit or credit card.
It’s the first-ever Hello Kitty Night at Citizens Bank Park at the 6:45 p.m. game on Tuesday, September 9. Gate openings: 3B/LF – 4:45 p.m.; all other gates 5:15 p.m.
- Before the game, the team will host the sold-out Strike Out the Stigma presented by GHOST®, focused on the topic of The Positive Impacts of Social Media, featuring special guest Inner Excellence author Jim Murphy. Murphy will also throw a ceremonial first pitch.
- The Glenmoore Eagle Little League baseball team, who participated in this year’s Little League World Series, will be recognized on-field before the game.
- Plus, in celebration of Temple Lung Night, double lung transplant recipient Kevin Christ will throw a ceremonial first pitch.
- Fans are invited to stop outside the Third Base Gate for free lung testing with giveaways, as well as receive information about lung health screening. Plus, inside First Base Gate, the Temple Lung Center team will provide information about lung health with giveaways and offer fans the opportunity to take a pledge for keeping their lungs healthy.
- Take pictures with Hello Kitty at The Break behind Section 210 from 4:45 p.m. until the 4th
The series continues with Goya Latino Community Celebration on Wednesday, September 10, at 6:45 p.m. Gate openings: 3B/LF – 4:45 p.m.; all other gates 5:15 p.m.
- Esencia Latina, Temple University’s first and only Latin dance team, will perform at the Third Base Plaza from 4:45 – 6:15 p.m.
- Philadelphia Police Officer Patrick Winward, along with firefighter Christopher Galasso and paramedic Sofia Oaks with the Philadelphia Fire Department, will be honored on-field as part of the National Liberty Museum’s Awards of Valor Program presented by your local Chevrolet dealers.
The series will conclude at the 7:15 p.m. game on Thursday, September 11, as the Phillies and Toyota hold a pregame tribute as part of First Responders Night, joining Major League Baseball to remember the events of September 11, 2001, and to honor those whose lives were affected or lost on that tragic day. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:45 p.m. Gate openings: 3B/LF – 5:15 p.m.; all other gates 5:45 p.m.
- Phillies players will wear on-field New Era caps with a 9/11 ribbon side patch. The Mets will don FDNY and NYPD caps.
- The Delaware State Police Honor Guard will join Captain Jonathan Packard as he performs the national anthem, alongside a presentation of the 50 state flags. There will also be a moment of silence in recognition for those who lost their lives on 9/11. Packard will also perform “God Bless America” during the 7th inning stretch.
- Supported by Toyota, Jazmin Hernandez – widow of Philadelphia Police Officer Jaime Roman, who was killed in the line of duty last year – will throw a ceremonial first pitch.
- At the end of the 3rd inning, SEPTA transit police officer Kevin Warg, who was injured in the line of duty, will be honored as that night’s Hometown Hero presented by Toyota.
