Phillies reinstate Marsh

Prior to tonight’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Phillies returned outfielder Brandon Marsh from his rehab assignment with triple-A Lehigh Valley and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list. To make room for him on the 26-man roster, outfielder Cal Stevenson was optioned to Lehigh Valley following last night’s game.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made the announcement.

Marsh, 27, appeared in six games as part of a rehab assignment with Lehigh Valley. He posted a .300/.400/.450 slash line (.850 OPS) in 25 plate appearances, going 6-for-20 with one home run, six RBI, four walks to eight strikeouts and two stolen bases. Defensively, he made five starts in center field while also making one start as designated hitter.

Originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft, the Buford, Ga., native was acquired by the Phillies from the Angels for Logan O’Hoppe on Aug. 2, 2022.

Stevenson, 28, has appeared in five games for the Phillies this year and recorded a .250 batting average in eight at-bats. Originally selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 10th round of the 2018 MLB Draft, Stevenson was claimed off waivers by the Phillies from the San Francisco Giants on May 26, 2023.
