Rangers Activate RHP Kumar Rocker from 15-Day Injured List, Option RHP Codi Heuer to Triple-A Round Rock

Tampa, Fla. — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Wednesday night’s game against Tampa Bay at Steinbrenner Field.

Rocker, 25, missed the Rangers’ last 37 games while on the 15-day Injured List with a right shoulder impingement. The right-hander made two rehab starts from May 23-29, totaling 7.0 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts (2 H, 1 BB). He last saw game action in a start for Triple-A Round Rock last Thursday vs. Reno, retiring each of the first 12 batters he faced over 4.0 perfect innings before issuing a walk to open the 5th (4.0+ SHO IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 5 SO, 53 pitches/35 strikes). Rocker previously appeared for Double-A Frisco on May 23 vs. Midland, posting 3.0 scoreless frames (2 H, 0 BB, 3 SO, 34 pitches/23 strikes).

In 5 starts for Texas this season, Rocker carries a 1-3 record, 8.10 ERA (18 ER/20.0 IP), 5 walks, and 16 strikeouts. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound right-hander has appeared exclusively as a starter in his Major League career, going 1-5 with a 6.54 ERA (23 ER/31.2 IP), 11 walks, and 30 strikeouts in 8 outings. A native of Watkinsville, Ga., Rocker was a former first-round selection by Texas (2022) and pitched collegiately for three seasons (2019-21) at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, where he was a finalist in 2021 for both the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy.

The 28-year-old Heuer made one relief appearance for Texas since his contract was selected from Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday, allowing one run across 1.1 innings pitched on Tuesday vs. Tampa Bay (1 H, 0 BB, 1 SO, 1 HR, 20 pitches/16 strikes). It marked the right-hander's first MLB appearance since 9/29/21 with Chicago-NL at Pittsburgh. In 87 career MLB games (all relief) with Chicago-AL (2020-21), Chicago-NL (2021), and Texas (2025), Heuer is 10-4 with a 3.61 ERA (37 ER/92.1 IP).

With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
