Padres Announce 2025 Opening Day Roster

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The San Diego Padres have finalized their Opening Day 26-man roster, President of Baseball Operations & General Manager A.J. Preller announced today.

The club has selected the contracts of catcher Martín Maldonado and infielders Jose Iglesias and Yuli Gurriel, recalled left-handed pitcher Omar Cruz from Triple-A El Paso, and designated infielders Eguy Rosario and Tyler Wade for assignment. With today’s moves, the Padres currently have a full 40-man roster.

Right-handed pitchers Jhony Brito (right forearm strain), Yu Darvish (right elbow inflammation), Bryan Hoeing (right shoulder strain), Sean Reynolds (right foot stress reaction) and Matt Waldron (left oblique muscle strain) have been placed on the 15-day Injured List.

The Opening Day roster features eight right-handed pitchers, five left-handers, two catchers, six infielders and five outfielders.

The Padres open up the 2025 season today, March 27, at Petco Park against the Atlanta Braves. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. PST (Pacific Standard Time).
