Pirates Claim Right-Handed Pitcher Michael Darrell-Hicks Off Waivers from The Los Angeles Angels

The Pittsburgh Pirates today claimed right-handed pitcher Michael Darrell-Hicks off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Catcher/first baseman Endy Rodríguez has been transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room for Darrell-Hicks on the 40-man roster.

The 27-year-old Darrell-Hicks, who was designated for assignment on June 8, went 1-0 with a 9.39 ERA (7.2ip/8er) in six relief appearances with the Angels this season. He also went 0-2 with an 8.87 ERA (22.1ip/22er) in 17 relief appearances with Triple-A Salt Lake.
