Dodgers Add Michael Kopech and Hyeseong Kim
DODGERS ADD MICHAEL KOPECH AND HYESEONG KIM
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated right-handed pitcher Michael Kopech and infielder/outfielder Hyeseong Kim from the injured list and added both to the active roster.
Kopech, 29, returns from the injured list after being sidelined for two months with a knee injury. He made seven rehab appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing seven runs in 5.1 innings with five strikeouts and nine walks. He has thrown seven scoreless innings in eight appearances this season for the Dodgers. He was acquired at the trade deadline from the Chicago White Sox last season and has made 32 appearances for the Dodgers, going 4-0 with a 0.87 ERA. He is in his sixth Major League season, having spent time with the White Sox (2018-24) and the Dodgers (2024-) and he is a combined 21-33 with a 4.11 ERA in 178 games. He has pitched 407 innings, posting 453 strikeouts with an opponents’ batting average of .216. He was drafted by the Red Sox in the first round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of Mount Pleasant High School (Tx.).
Kim, 26, has been out since July 29 with left shoulder bursitis. He made nine rehab appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City, batting .324 with five runs scored and three RBI. On the season, he is batting .304 with two homers and 15 RBI in 58 games. He joined the Dodgers this offseason after spending the last eight years in the Korean Baseball League. During his time in Korea, he slashed .304/.364/.403 with 37 homers and 211 stolen bases. He signed with Los Angeles on January 3, 2025.
