Dodgers Activate Tommy Edman
DODGERS ACTIVATE TOMMY EDMAN
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers activated infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman and optioned outfielder Justin Dean.
Edman, 30, has been on the IL since August 4 with a right ankle sprain. He is batting .228 with 12 homers and 44 RBI in 86 games this season. He made five rehab appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City, batting .286 with three walks and one run scored. The 2024 NLCS MVP is in his second season with Los Angeles and has clubbed 18 homers in 123 games. In parts of seven seasons with the Cardinals (2019-2023) and the Dodgers (2024-) he has slashed .259/.313/.407 with 71 homers and 286 RBI. The former Stanford Cardinal was selected in the sixth round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft by St. Louis.
Dean, 28, has appeared in 18 games, going 0-for-2 in his lone plate appearances for the Dodgers. The outfielder was hitting .274 with six homers, 25 stolen bases and 31 RBI for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He has been in the minor leagues seven seasons, playing 680 games, hitting .249 with 39 homers and 237 stolen bases. He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 17th round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of Lenoir-Rhyne University (N.C.).
