Here are Wednesday's top prospect performances from the Minors

The best and brightest of the Minors were out in full force as action also continued behind the scenes in advance of Thursday's Trade Deadline. Kevin Alcántara (CHC) mashed two homers, Carson Benge (NYM) continued his scorching summer and Christian Moore (LAA) looked pretty healthy as he began his rehab assignment in the Single-A California League.

Kevin Alcántara, OF, Iowa (CHC No. 4/MLB No. 76)
Alcántara powered Triple-A Iowa with his second multihomer game of the season and sixth as a pro, moving him within two long balls of equaling his career high. The 23-year-old drove in three runs, scored twice and walked as he winds down a solid month offensively. Alcántara has an .819 OPS, 33 extra-base hits, 13 homers and 51 RBIs in 79 games. Gameday

Kevin McGonigle, SS, Erie (DET No. 1/MLB No. 7)
McGonigle collected his third multihit effort in four games and cleared the bases with a double to give him his first three-RBI performance at Double-A. The 20-year-old began his Erie tenure with one hit in nine at-bats but has since gone 12-for-40 (.300) with seven extra-base hits and 12 RBIs in 10 games. Despite missing more than a month with a right ankle sprain, McGonigle has been one of the Minors' best hitters, driving in 51 runs in 55 games to go along with a 1.016 OPS. Gameday

Andrew Painter, RHP, Lehigh Valley (PHI No. 1/MLB No. 8)
Painter wasn't dominant in his latest outing for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, but he did toss 6 1/3 innings, the furthest he's gone in a start since he completed seven frames on Sept. 3, 2022. The 23-year-old scattered seven hits while allowing one run and striking out four during his 103-pitch outing. In his first season back since undergoing Tommy John surgery more than two years ago, Painter has fanned 67 in 68 Triple-A innings spanning 14 starts. Gameday

Arjun Nimmala, SS, Vancouver (TOR No. 1/MLB No. 45)
Nimmala had his most productive outing in six weeks, slugging his first homer since June 17 and matching a season high with four RBIs for High-A Vancouver. Although the 19-year-old has been struggling since the calendar flipped to June, he still has 36 extra-base hits, 12 homers and 43 RBIs in 89 games. Gameday

Christian Moore, 2B, Inland Empire (LAA No. 1/MLB No. 46)
Moore began his trek back toward the Majors with a pair of doubles and a walk in four plate appearances in the first game of his rehab assignment with Single-A Inland Empire. The 22-year-old has been sidelined since he sprained his left thumb on July 2 while playing in his 18th Major League game for the Angels. Gameday

Jonah Tong, RHP, Binghamton (NYM No. 2/MLB No. 52)
The top strikeout pitcher in the Minors added eight more to his total, but command issues led to five walks and limited Tong to three scoreless innings. The 22-year-old needed 74 pitches to get through his 18th start of the season, but only allowed one hit and increased his K's to 146 across 92 frames, an average of 14.2 per nine. Opponents are hitting just .139 against Tong, whose ERA dropped to 1.66. Gameday

Cam Caminiti, LHP, Augusta (ATL No. 1/MLB No. 54)
Caminiti closed out the month with his second consecutive scoreless outing for Single-A Augusta. The 18-year-old racked up seven strikeouts during his second straight four-inning start. Caminiti has lived up to his Top 100 billing since his return from forearm tendinitis, posting a 2.37 ERA and striking out 43 in 30 1/3 innings across eight starts for the GreenJackets. Gameday

Carson Benge, OF, Binghamton (NYM No. 4/MLB No. 68)
Benge's promotion to Double-A has coincided with easily his best stretch since his pro debut last year. The 22-year-old homered for the third consecutive game, collected three hits and stole a base while extending his hitting streak to 10. Benge, who has gone deep five times in his past seven contests, is slashing .371/.472/.652 since joining Binghamton on June 24. Gameday

Jackson Ferris, LHP, Tulsa (LAD No. 6/MLB No. 96)
Ferris capped his best of month of the season with his second scoreless outing in three starts. The southpaw with the 60-grade fastball scattered five hits and struck out four over 5 2/3 innings to finish July with a 1.53 ERA in five outings. Since then, his ERA ballooned to 6.58 following his June 15 start. Ferris has surrendered five runs across 39 innings (1.15 ERA) while striking out 41. Gameday

Brody Brecht, RHP, Fresno (COL No. 4)
Brecht's strong debut season rolled on as the Iowa product added four more scoreless frames to his ledger. The 22-year-old struck out seven and allowed three hits during his 69-pitch outing. Brecht, who was making his second start for Single-A Fresno after missing two months with an injury, has a 3.06 ERA and 54 punchouts in 32 1/3 innings across 10 starts for the Grizzlies. Gameday

David Shields, LHP, Columbia (KC No. 5)
Shields finished July with another scoreless outing, his third of the month and second in three starts. The 18-year-old struck out seven over four innings and has giving up a pair of run since he allowed a pair in his start on July 9, the only runs he's surrendered this month. Shields will bring a 2.39 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP and a 59-to-11 K/BB ratio in 52 2/3 innings into August for Single-A Columbia. Gameday
