August baseball came to a close with some sizzle, highlighted by a cycle bid from Jaison Chourio (Guardians), homers from Konnor Griffin (Pirates) and Kevin McGonigle (Tigers) plus several other noteworthy moments from Top 100 prospects Caleb Bonemer (White Sox) and Rainiel Rodriguez (Cardinals).

Jaison Chourio, OF, Lake County (CLE No. 6)
The 20-year-old homered, drove in three runs and fell a triple shy of the cycle as part of a four-hit effort, matching a season high in one of his most complete offensive performances of the season. It hasn't always been the most linear year for Chourio, who missed time to injury in May and June and slumped mightily in the first half. But he's swinging the bat much better lately. Chourio has multihit games in five of his past nine contests, and he has posted a .372 on-base percentage since the start of July. Gameday

Konnor Griffin, SS/OF, Altoona (PIT No. 1/MLB No. 1)
The game's top overall prospect continued his tear at Double-A, clocking his third homer in 11 games since reaching the level and 19th overall on the season. Pair those power numbers with Griffin's 64 steals, and there's been a lot to back up the 19-year-old's unique ability and status atop our Top 100 Prospects list. With about three weeks left in his first professional season, Griffin has already had a year for the ages across three levels. And he appears to be finishing strong with a .930 OPS and 16 RBIs in his first 11 games at Altoona. Gameday

Kevin McGonigle, SS, Erie (DET No. 1/MLB No. 2)
McGonigle may not be dominating Double-A quite the way he did the lower levels earlier this season, the pop he's been showing as he grows more comfortable at the level speaks to his development. By cranking his eighth homer in his 36th game at Erie, he's gone deep more than he did at High-A in the same number of games. He's posted almost the exact K/BB ratio (an elite 19/25) in the Eastern League as he did one level down (19/23). All told, the 21-year-old is hitting .315/.418/.590 across three levels this season, during which time he's established himself as maybe the best pure hitter in the Minors. Gameday

Caleb Bonemer, SS/3B, Winston-Salem (CWS No. 4/MLB No. 86)
It was a day of firsts for Chicago's second-round pick from the '24 Draft. By cranking his first two home runs at High-A, Bonemer also achieved the first multihomer game of his career as he extended his torrid stretch at the plate. The big fly was his fourth over the past eight games stretching back to his time at Single-A, giving the 19-year-old 12 round-trippers across 101 total games in his first pro season. He's also stolen 28 bases and compiled 43 extra-base hits. Gameday

Rainiel Rodriguez, C, Palm Beach (STL No. 4/MLB No. 96)
The 18-year-old backstop hit an absolute laser of a home run, 106.1 mph off the bat, onto the clubhouse roof at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium for Single-A Palm Beach, his fourth big fly in the past six games. It was Rodriguez's 13th homer of the season at the level, and 20th overall. That's enough to pull him into fourth place on the Florida State League's home run list, despite playing in fewer games than all three players ahead of him, and nearly half the games as Cincinnati's Alfredo Duno, the league leader. Gameday

Christian Oppor, LHP (CWS No. 8)
The southpaw struck out six across five scoreless frames at High-A, where he held opponents to two hits and one walk on his way to earning his first victory in 15 starts at the level. The 21-year-old has pitched better than his 1-6 record indicates, though, with a 3.43 ERA and 78 strikeouts across 60 1/3 innings for Winston-Salem. The month of August was particularly fruitful for Oppor, who posted a 2.45 ERA across six starts with at least five strikeouts in four of those outings. Gameday

Lucas Braun, RHP, Columbus (ATL No. 13)
Braun was on point to close out August, equaling a season high with nine strikeouts and allowing just a third-inning single -- which was erased on a double play -- over seven scoreless frames. The 24-year-old was roughed up in his second outing of the month but was otherwise strong, surrendering four runs in 23 innings (1.57 ERA) while fanning 30. Braun has been a solid starter all season for Double-A Columbus, holding opponents to a .225 average while running a 134/35 K/BB ratio in 130 2/3 innings. Gameday
