Atlanta Braves to Host Annual Patriot Day 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Truist Park on Saturday, September 6
Event is in remembrance of first responders and individuals impacted by the September 11, 2001, attacks and will benefit first responders in need across Georgia
In honor and remembrance of the lives of first responders and individuals impacted by the September 11, 2001, attacks, the Atlanta Braves will host the annual Patriot Day 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Truist Park on Saturday, September 6, ahead of the Braves vs. Seattle Mariners game later that same day.
As a collaborative effort between the Atlanta Braves Foundation, The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund of Georgia, and the Georgia Fraternal Order of Leatherheads Society, this event is open to the public with advanced registration. Individuals interested in participating in the stair climb are encouraged to pre-register at the link here, and walk-ups are welcome day of. All proceeds will benefit The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund of Georgia and support first responders in need and their families across Georgia.
For this event, participants will climb over 2,000 steps at Truist Park, symbolizing the 110 flights of stairs the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) firefighters took to ascend the World Trade Center in their search and rescue efforts on 9/11. Participating climbers will also receive a photo and a name of an individual who lost their life on 9/11 on a lanyard to wear in remembrance during their climb. A piece of the Trade Center steel will also be displayed onsite.
Opening Ceremonies will begin at 8:30 a.m. on event day and will include a National Anthem performance by Captain Ben Holley of the local Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services, a moment of silence dedicated to the lives lost and impacted on 9/11, a symbolic “missing man” formation flyover in collaboration with the Commemorative Air Force Airbase Georgia, and more. Climbers will begin their ascent at 9:00 a.m.
Special guests expected to join this year’s event include Brian Farrell, Chairman and Founder of The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund and brother of Terry Farrell; John Gaine, Board Member of The Terry Farrell Fire Fighters Fund and retired FDNY Rescue 4 member; Bobby Galione, retired FDNY Rescue 2 member; and Ryan Knowles, Board Vice President of The Terry Farrell Fund and retired law enforcement and volunteer fire chief. Firefighters from Ground Zero will also be present.
Participants will be met with a “cooling station” at the end of their climb that will include fans, cooling towels, and misters, courtesy of ServPro. In partnership with Firehouse Subs®, the official catering partner of the Patriot Day 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, climb participants will also receive a boxed lunch to enjoy.
In addition, the Atlanta Braves Foundation will provide each of the first 200 participants who register for the 2025 Patriot Day 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb event two tickets for the September 7 Braves game against the Seattle Mariners.

The Patriot Day 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is one of several ongoing initiatives the Atlanta Braves Foundation champions as part of their work in honoring and supporting frontline warriors across the community. Among these efforts also include hosting the annual Braves Warrior Classic presented by Southwire. Last year for this event, the Braves welcomed 80 veterans and active military members to Truist Park for an exclusive VIP experience that included a behind-the-scenes ballpark tour and catered lunch, as well as the opportunity to experience bullpen toss and on-field batting practice with current and former Braves players.
