TAMPA -- Injuries continued to haunt the Orioles’ pitching staff Monday when left-hander Cade Povich (left hip inflammation) was placed on the 15-day injured list. Right-hander Colin Selby was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk for the fourth time this season.

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said he expects Povich, the winner in Sunday’s 11-2 victory against the Angels, to return soon.

“I definitely feel like it’s a minor injury,’’ Mansolino said before the Orioles faced the Rays in the opener of a four-game series at Steinbrenner Field. “Most players are dealing with something in some form or fashion. Cade has been dealing with this for a while, just like our other pitchers and our position players are dealing with things. He hung in there for a while with this and did a great job. At this point, it’s probably the right move for Cade.’’

Povich (2-5, 5.15 ERA) pitched 3 2/3 scoreless relief innings Sunday against the Angels. He’s the fifth Orioles starting pitcher to land on the IL this season, along with Kyle Bradish (right elbow UCL surgery), Albert Suárez (subscapularis strain), Grayson Rodriguez (right elbow inflammation) and Tyler Wells (right elbow UCL surgery).

“I don’t think this [pitching injuries] is special to us,’’ Mansolino said. “I think the whole industry is dealing with this. We got some pretty marquee guys who had gone down with injuries and we also have some other guys who have stayed healthy here for a while and made a lot of starts. The Cade [Povich] thing is probably unique to normal pitching injuries and I think it’s kind of a one-off.’’

The Orioles have not announced a starter for Wednesday night’s game, and Mansolino did not directly address speculation that left-hander Trevor Rogers would be called up from Norfolk.

“We definitely have a plan in place and we will share that when we are ready,’’ Mansolino said.
